Over the past decade, Sheboygan had several different organizations for girls fast pitch. The Sheboygan Thunder and Lady Diamonds had been operating separately with their own teams and leadership. In early 2007 a third organization called the Sheboygan Sliders was also formed. After several discussions among the groups, it was decided that talks should begin to merge the 3 into 1 unified organization. It was agreed that all would benefit from the unification rather than compete for players and coaches. The new group could pool their resources and have greater success at developing a highly competitive program.

In late 2007, the 3 organizations made the agreement, and came together under the Non-Profit title SGFSA (Sheboygan Girls Fast Pitch Softball Association).

It was decided that the new organization would be operated as a city-wide program, rather than splitting up teams based on the player’s schools or locale.
